CB150 FAQs
How do I know if the Hybrid Edge™ Blades Assembly is screwed on properly?
Make sure the blade assembly is fully threaded, meaning there are no gaps between the blade assembly and the lip of the cup/pitcher. The blade assembly should be flush against the cup/pitcher.
Note: There will be no audible click when the blade assembly is properly installed.
How do I install the pitcher lid on the pitcher?
With the pitcher handle facing you, place the lid on the pitcher with the red rectangle on the lid aligned with the red line on the pitcher. Push the lid down until it seals, then rotate the tab to the left until it clicks into place.
Why can't I remove the tamper from the lid to better clean the parts?
The tamper in the pitcher lid is not removable. Handwash the lid in warm soapy water or place in the dishwasher for cleaning.
The blade assembly is difficult to remove from the container.
When installing the blades, turn enough to create a secure seal, but do not overtighten. If the blade assembly is stuck, use a dish towel to safely remove it.
If using the TWISTi Pitcher, remove the lid and contents after processing before removing the blade assembly.
What's the difference between a smoothie and a smoothie bowl?
Smoothie bowls are thicker and spoonable, compared to smoothies, which are thinner and drinkable. Examples of spoonable recipes are smoothie bowls, hummus, pesto, and nut butters (thick outputs). Examples of drinkable recipes are smoothies, protein drinks, and green drinks.
Why is the unit's exhaust excessive? Objects are moving across my countertop.
The motor base is powerful, and air will blow from the sides of the unit when in use. Move lightweight objects away from the unit before blending. Do not attempt to block vents.
Unit is difficult to remove from the counter for storage.
Tip the unit forward from the back to easily disengage the suction feet.
Why is the unit is making loud noises when blending?
The motor base is powerful. Loud noises are a normal occurrence, especially when blending frozen ingredients. If the noise seems louder than normal, add water until the cup is half full and install the blade assembly. Install the cup onto the motor base and run any program. Ensure the blades are spinning.
What is the twist tamper for?
To get the thickest, most even results, twist the built-in tamper counterclockwise to push ingredients toward the blades, reducing the amount of liquid needed for blending. We recommend using the build-in tamper for spoonable outputs such as smoothie bowl, nut butters, frozen treats, and dips and spreads. For best results, use BOWL or SPREAD* iQ program for SPOONABLE outputs and when TWISTING the built-in tamper.
How do I clean the TWISTi Pitcher when dealing with stuck-on ingredients?
For best results, use a dishwasher to remove stuck-on ingredients in the TWISTi Pitcher. Or, use the motor base to clean:
1. Rinse the pitcher and blade assembly under WARM WATER after processing.
2. Screw on the blade assembly. Fill the pitcher with warm water and a small drop of soap up to the single-serve liquid line.
3. Install on motor base. Select BOWL and twist the built-in tamper counterclockwise continuously while cleaning.
4. Once complete, empty contents and rinse pitcher under warm water.
Why does the blender move on the counter while blending?
Ensure the counter and feet of the unit are clean and dry before blending. Failure to do so may result in the blender moving on the counter due to the vibration of the blender's motor.
Can I use other Ninja edge blades with my CB150?
No, you cannot use other Ninja Edge Blades with your CB150. Only use the provided CB150 Edge Blades. Older-style Ninja blade assemblies or any other blade assembly can cause damage to the motor base when used with the CB150 blender.
What does it mean to "amplify" a recipe by adding yogurt, powders, etc.?
Adding yogurt, powders, etc. will add additional flavours to your smoothie bowls.
What do I use the drizzle hole for?
Use the drizzle hole to add liquid ingredients while processing. If results are too thick, open the drizzle hole cap and add more liquid. Keep the cap closed when processing liquids.
How should I use the Liquid and Max Fill lines?
When creating smoothie bowls, use the liquid and max fill lines based on the intended serving size. For single serve, use the small bowl Liquid Fill and Max Fill lines. For 2 servings, use the large bowl Liquid Fill and Max Fill lines. Add liquid first, then frozen ingredients.
What Auto-iQ® programs should I use for drinkable outputs vs. spoonable outputs?
The TWISTi Pitcher and Single-Serve Cup can be used on any of the Auto-IQ programs. For spoonable outputs like smoothie bowls, hummus, or nut butters, use the SPREAD or BOWL Auto-IQ program. To create drinkable outputs such as smoothies, use the EXTRACT, SMOOTHIE, or FROZEN Auto-IQ programs.
For best results, use the built-in-tamper and TWISTi Pitcher for spoonable recipes.
What is the best way to blend leafy greens?
Follow the instructions below to ensure all ingredients will be optimally processed by the blades and for best blending results. Leafy greens should be placed between the heavier ingredients such as fresh fruits, frozen fruits, and ice. When filling the Nutrient Extraction Cup, start with fruit or vegetables, then leafy greens or herbs. Next, add liquids or yogurt, then seeds, powders, or nut butter. Finally, add ice or frozen ingredients. When filling the pitcher, start with frozen ingredients or ice, then add liquid(s) of choice. Next add leafy greens, seeds, powders, or nut butter, and finally, add fruits or veggies.
Why should I twist the tamper continuously when using the TWISTi Pitcher?
For best blending results using the TWISTi Pitcher, twist the tamper counterclockwise continuously during blending. Twisting the tamper will help circulate ingredients and bring them toward the blades. This will provide thicker and smoother outputs.
Why is the unit not mixing well? Food is getting stuck to the sides.
For best results, use the Auto-iQ® programs. The pulses and pauses allow the ingredients to settle toward the blade assembly.
If ingredients are routinely getting stuck, adding some liquid will usually help. If making thick outputs in the TWISTi Pitcher, twist the built-in tamper counterclockwise continuously during blending to circulate ingredients.
When filling the cup, start with fruit or veggies, then leafy greens or herbs. Next add liquids or yogurt, then seeds, powders, or nut butters. Finally, add ice or frozen ingredients.
When filling the pitcher, start with frozen ingredients or ice, then add liquid(s) of choice. Next add leafy greens, seeds, powders, or nut butters, and finally add fruits or veggies.
Why is the output warm?
This is normal and the unit is functioning properly.
If you are using room-temperature ingredients to make nut butters, spreads, etc., output will be slightly warm due to friction of blending.
What happens if I don't twist the tamper continuously when using the TWISTi Pitcher?
For best blending results using the TWISTi pitcher, twist the tamper counterclockwise continuously during blending. Twisting the tamper will help circulate ingredients and bring them toward the blades. This will provide thicker and smoother outputs.
Why does the display read "--"?
If the display reads "--", install a container and the available program buttons will illuminate, indicating the unit is ready for use. Ensure the lid is fully engaged and the container has been rotated clockwise and clicked to lock into place.
The display is showing "E1".
If the display reads "E1", the motor has been running for too long. As a safety feature, the unit cannot run for more than 3 consecutive minutes. Unplug the unit and let it cool for 15 minutes before running it again.
The control panel does not turn off.
Remove the container from base by rotating it counterclockwise and lifting it up. The display will flash ‘- - ’. Unplug the power cord from the outlet. If the unit remains plugged in, the display will time out after 3 minutes of inactivity. Press any button to wake the unit.
The control panel does not illuminate.
Make sure the unit is plugged in. If the unit is plugged in and no container is installed, the unit will display ‘- -’. The available programs will illuminate after placing a container on the base and rotating it clockwise until it clicks into place.
